What a weekend! Camping in the snow, drifts on Sunday morning blocking roads. Some couldn't make it. Emails... Telephone calls... Then the roads began to clear and DubFreeze (see photo report), scheduling the start of the VW show season, thawed into life. It was slow to begin with, as you'd expect, but gradually... Special thanks to those in the Show and Shine (fantastic effort guys) and the brave campers!

Bingley Hall in Stafford will host BusFreeze #2 in October. The first show (November 2009) had a really good vibe, despite the atrocious weather on the Saturday night and Sunday morning. In anticipation of this year's event you can read our show report.
DUBFREEZE 2011
DubFreeze captures the spirit and camaraderie of perhaps the strongest classic car scene in the world. The attraction of the Volkswagen, be it a Beetle, a camper or a buggy is as strong today as it has ever been, perhaps more so with classic vehicle status practically guaranteed year on year, and that has led to the inclusion of newer models like the Golf and New Beetle designs. On occasion DubFreeze has included fine examples of Porsches and AUDIs and whilst not directly relating to these individual marques, the link between VW and the former is perfectly clear for all to see, and we always welcome enthusiasts of these breeds to continue joining us. It can only be a matter of years before SEAT and Skoda owners (particularly the classic models) venture through the DubFreeze doors.
So what is DubFreeze and what can you expect to see? From the outset you will be surrounded by classic metal of all descriptions - and by that we also mean rusty and polished! The main entrance (roadway) to Bingley Hall will be lined with private vehicles for sale. Anywhere between 60 and 70 vehicles on either side will make for interesting viewing. In years past there has been a £10 per vehicle fee to park up in this prestigious runway where ALL visitors pass in order to enter the main building, but since the opening of our sister event, BusFreeze, we have made the decision to slash prices in accordance with what is charged there. So it is now free to place your vehicle along this route at DubFreeze. Sellers will, however, need to download a pass from the website, as in previous years. Also new, for the brave it must be said, camping will be offered for the first time at a cost of just £5 per vehicle. See the Camping section for Saturday's opening times.
Once inside Bingley Hall, a huge building separated into four distinct areas (and a pub and restaurant), you will be surrounded by a huge trade and autojumble (aka swapmeet) selection, plus a charity parts auction and a show and shine display. The who's who of the VW trade are always in attendance and there are plenty of 'good buys' to be had to kick-start the VW classic (and custom) car project.
Entrance to the event remains at just £10 per adult, with accompanied children under 16 admitted for free. This is not an open air event for good reason (if it were the entrance fee would be substantially lower and everyone would freeze for sure) so lighting, heating, four walls and a roof are all essential ingredients to a warm event with good social overtones. Traders should note that electrical power points are available on request.
